  • Sports Xpress Recruiting Xclusive:Alex Garner

    By:Kenneth True (@SXKennethTrue on Twitter)

Alex Garner's senior season was hampered by injuries including a seperated shoulder, however he got some good news recently when he was selected to play in the Kentucky-Tenessee Border Bowl.

The way Alex was chosen was "every coach enters two athletes from their school, and National Border Bowl selects 40 or so based on play during the season."
Despite picking up that honor, Alex also got some new interest from Western Kentucky of which he said "Western has showed some interest." Other then Western Kentucky, Garner has also recieved interest from Tennessee State, and Tennessee-Martin.

It seems like it may be rough to take down Southern Illinois as Garner has already visited and plans on visiting again. Garner said "I would say Southern Illinois is still the most active at this point."

Garner also tells us he'd like to visit the Tennessee programs but says "They haven't been set yet, but I would like to."

Despite all that interest the younger brother of SX co-owner and staff writer Burke Garner says "I'm hoping a good game in the bowl will jump start me even further into my recruitment."

The 6'1 245 lbs. DE/LB says "I would like to decide next month."
