  • UFC 148: Silva vs Sonnen II Preview

By: Brandon Quillen (@SX_BWQ on twitter)

Anderson Silva (31-4, 18 KOs) VS Chael Sonnen (27-11-1, 7 KOs) | Middleweight Championship

This is easily one of the most hyped fights in UFC history. It is a perfect clash of styles, Sonnen is a wrestler and Silva is a Muay Thai specialist. Sonnen won the first 4 rounds but let Silva catch him in a triangle armbar.

Prediction: I think Sonnen uses his superior wrestling to takedown Silva early and often, Sonnen by 4th rd TKO.

Forrest Griffin (18-7, 7 Subs) VS Tito Ortiz (16-10-1, 8 KOs) | Light Heavyweight

This is the rubber match for these two Superstars. Ortiz overpowered the younger Griffin in their first matchup, but Griffin had a helluva comeback in their brawl in November of '09. They both are about as even as can be.

Prediction: I think Forrest is in better shape and wins the rubber match by split-decision, sending Tito to retirement.

Cung Le (7-2, 7 KOs) VS Patrick Cote (17-7, 8 KOs) | Middleweight

Coming off an embarrassing loss to Wanderlei Silva in November, Cung Le will be looking to rebound against Patrick Cote. Cote has won 4 in a row to earn another chance in the octagon. Le is one of the best kickboxers in the world, but has no skill in any other martial art. Cote is a jack of all trades but a master of none.

Prediction: Cung Le by TKO in the 1st rd.

Dong Hyun Kim (15-1-1, 6 KOs) VS Demian Maia (15-4, 8 Subs) | Welterweight

Yet another clash of styles, Kim is the kickboxer while Maia is the BJJ expert. Kim also is one of the best Judokas in the octagon. Maia possesses the best triangle in all of MMA and isn't afraid to use it.

Prediction: If it's standing, give me Kim. If it's on the ground, give me Maia. The fight starts standing so Kim by 3rd TKO.

Chad Mendes (11-1, 2 KOs) VS Cody McKenzie (13-2, 12 Subs) | Featherweight

Chad Mendes is more well rounded, but McKenzie has one of the most signature moves in all of sports. McKenzie's Guillotine has submitted 11 of his 15 opponents, and Mendes has never been submitted so something's gotta give.

Prediction: Mendes continues his climb back to the top with a decision victory.

Ivan Menjivar (24-8, 9 KOs) VS Mike Easton (12-1, 4 KOs) | Bantamweight

Both can beat you by a multitude of ways which should make for some fireworks (no-pun intended.) They've combined to win every fight they've had in the past 2 years. Menjivar is more experienced and shold use that to his advantage.

Prediction: Menjivar over powers Easton and wins by KO in the 2nd rd.
