UFC 153 Preview: Silva vs. Bonnar
By:Kenneth True (@SXKennethTrue on Twitter)

UFC 153 has its fair share of big names on the card headlined by the headliner Anderson Silva. With many of the past couple of fight cards being ravaged by injury this looked like another but Dana White and crew did a great job finding guys to step in.
Anderson Silva vs. Stephan Bonnar
Silva comes into this fight riding high, especially after beating the loud mouthed Chael Sonnen for a 2nd time and quieting some of his bigger critics. Silva is also riding a 16 fight win streak including 15 straight in the UFC.
Bonnar is on a 3 fight win streak with his most recent win coming against Kyle Kingsbury at UFC 139. Bonnar was once one of the more feared fighters throughout the UFC, that time has come and gone.
Prediction: Silva by knee 1st Rd.
Antonio Nogueira vs. Dave Herman
Are we beginning to see the end for Minitauro? Nogueira is 2-3 in his last five fights, his last fight was a loss at UFC 140 to Frank Mir. He’ll look to show UFC brass and fans that he still has some fight left in his tank against Dave Herman.
Herman can’t afford another loss having lost his last two fights against Roy Nelson and Stefan Struve. Can Herman send the vet to his 4th loss in 6 fights?
Prediction: Nogueira by unanimous decision
Glover Teixeira vs. Fabio Maldonado
Glover Teixeira is on FIRE!!!! Like Anderson Silva, Teixeira to is riding a 16 fight win streak although only one of those victories have came in the UFC and that was in his last fight against Kyle Kingsbury.
Fabio Maldonaldo came into the UFC with a W, but has suffered two straight setbacks since. Can Maldonado return to his winning ways against a feared Glover Teixeira.
Prediction: Teixeira by punches 1st Rd.
Jon Fitch vs. Erick Silva
It’s not long ago that Jon Fitch was thought of as a championship contender, but after a draw with B.J. Penn and a loss to Johny Hendricks he’s hoping to get back on track and start climbing the ladder back toward the top.
Erick Silva can score tons of respect points with a win over Fitch. This is a win that could push Silva into another portion of the weight class. After the disappointing loss to Carlos Prater at UFC 142, he beat Charlie Brenneman at UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall.
Prediction: Fitch continues his climb back toward the top, by decision.
Phil Davis vs. Wagner Prado
Phil Davis was riding high, having just beaten Antonio Rogerio Nogueira then he got a shot at Rashad Evans and since then it’s been tough. In his last bout against Prado the fight was called because of a eye poke. Davis hopes to regain some respect in this one.
Prado is unbeaten heading into this fight, and Davis only has the Evans blemish on his record. Can Prado shock the MMA world and upset the fan favorite Davis?
Prediction: Davis by punches in 2nd Rd.
Demian Maia vs. Rick Story
Maia has been shaky throughout his career and it all depends on which Maia you get. Demian picked up a W over Dong Hyun Kim in his last fight as Kim suffered a injury which looks impressive. Although before that he lost to Chris Weidman. Maia is 5-4 over his last nine showing his shakiness.
Rick Story like Maia has been shaky but his shakiness isn’t as bad as Maia’s, Story is 7-3 since coming to the UFC. Story’s last five fights have all gone to decision, so Maia will have a hard time putting him away. Story hasn’t been finished yet in the UFC.
Prediction: Story by Unanimous Decision.
